This full-day seminar is targeted toward coaches, trainers and athletes of all levels. The goal of this course is to provide a primary understanding of human anatomy and biomechanics as well as a discussion of injuries that are common in the pursuit of functional fitness.
The day will consist of a mix of informative lectures as well as breakout sessions that will reinforce the points made in the lecture. There will also be instruction in injury prevention exercises targeted toward the shoulder, spine, knee and hip.
The presenter, Dan Hollingsworth is a physical therapist and athletic trainer who specializes in sports and orthopedic injuries. He has vast teaching experience to include leading seminars around the world and teaching at the university level.

Every year nearly 2 million school aged athletes sustain sports related injuries. Kids between the ages of 5 to 14 account for nearly 40% of all sports injuries. Many of these injuries are non-contact related or due to overuse. These types of injuries can be prevented.
Kitsap CrossFit is proud to present the Bulletproof Athlete Injury Prevention Camps. These week-long camps will provide young athletes with the information and skill set necessary to become more resilient to athletic injuries.
Each camp is 5 days in length and daily session will last 90 minutes. Day one of each camp will kick off with a basic lesson in human anatomy, biomechanics, injury pathomechanics and the principles of injury prevention. Parents and coaches are invited to attend the first class of each camp. Then each session will include:
- Guided warm-up
- Prehab exercises
- Strength session
- Conditioning workout
June 23-27 – Knee Injury Prevention
July 7-11 – Shoulder Injury Prevention
Aug 4-8 – Back Injury Prevention

We are excited to be bringing back My First Throwdown for it’s second run, on Saturday, February 1st. This event is a CrossFit-style competition for those who have never competed in a throwdown before. It doesn’t matter if you are in your first week of CrossFit or if you have been with us since our early days, this competition is for EVERYONE. All workouts will be designed such that anybody will be able to do the movements.
Registration for this event is limited to 25 males and 25 females. We are giving first priority registration to Kitsap CrossFit members who have never competed before. Second priority registration will be extended to non-Kitsap CrossFit athletes in the region who have never competed before. Third tier registration will be extended to folks who competed in My First Throwdown last year, have not competed in anything since and want to give it another go. Time: Check-in begins at 8:30am and first event starts at 9:30am

Mission:Fit is a 30 minute fitness blast. This class has been wildly popular for our lunchtime crowd and it is now coming to the evening.
Beginning Monday, January 13th we will now offer Mission:Fit on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 5:45pm.

Get in, Get out, Get fit

Time: Sign-in at 11am, women lift at noon, men lift at 2pm’ish.
Cost: $15 for non-Kitsap CrossFit members
This event is designed for lifters of all levels. We strongly encourage first time competitors to come out and give the awesome sport of Olympic Weightlifting a shot. Each athlete will be given 3 attempts for a maximum lift in the snatch as well as the clean and jerk. Your lifts will be judged to ensure there are no press outs and that the lifts meet the other requirements of a weightlifting meet.
If you are unfamiliar with the rules of weightlifting check out the IWF Rulebook, we will not follow every letter of the rulebook. The most pertinent pages are 3-5 and 14-16.
Awards: We will present “Spirit of the Meet” awards for the female and male lifters that demonstrate the true spirit of the competition. This is not determined by who lifts the most weight, but by who brings the most energy and fire to the competition. This award will be voted upon by a pre-selected “jury” of spectators and non-competing coaches.

Calling ALL those interested in competing! Kitsap CrossFit will re-open its Competitor’s Class. This class will be open to ANYONE with aspirations of competing. Whether it’s a local throwdown, the Open, Regionals, or the Games; we can and will help you to prepare and improve.
The class will run for 12 weeks and will cost $150. Once you sign up, the first step will be filling out an athlete questionnaire, listing (known) 1 rep maxes on several lifts, benchmark WOD times, and stating a 3, 6, and 12 month goal. These goals will need to be realistic, specific and concise in words and numbers.
We will also identify your strengths and weaknesses so we can develop a plan to strategically work your weaknesses while also maintaining your strengths. You will receive semi-personalized programming that will supplement your regular CrossFit classes and Olympic lifting classes. Classes will meet three times per week on Monday and Wednesday at 6pm and Saturdays at 12pm.
Classes will be coached but not every class will have a high intensity metcon. These classes are times for you to work on skills, increase strength, learn to strategize WODs, and have watchful eyes on you to help you learn, improve, and get you prepared for your competition.
The first 12 week segment will officially start November 4 – January 31 and is geared to prepare you for the Open which should start in March 2014. Those interested should sign up ASAP to get the athlete questionnaire complete so we can build a plan for you when November 1 rolls around.
