CrossFit workouts combine elements of weightlifting, gymnastics, and sprinting into challenging and highly effective workouts for people of all fitness levels. Dan is a long-time endurance athlete who began training under the CrossFit methodology in January of 2008. His endurance accomplishments include 30+ triathlons/duathlons, 7 marathons, including Boston in 2008, and in May of 2009 he completed his first 50-mile ultramarathon.
Dan received a B.S. in Exercise Science and completed an athletic training internship working with Division I collegiate athletes at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In 2001 he earned his Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from the U.S. Army-Baylor University Graduate PT program. Dan spent 8 years as an active duty Navy PT. His Navy career culminated in a 2 year assignment to the USS JOHN C STENNIS (CVN-74) followed by being hand picked as the first Navy PT assigned to the newly formed Marine Corps Special Operations Command (MARSOC). Currently, Dan is a staff PT at Kitsap Physical Therapy in Poulsbo, WA and he recently became a member of the CrossFit HQ Certification Staff as a Head Trainer.
Dan’s coaching style relies heavily on his extensive education and experience. He has a keen eye for proper technique and a knack for teaching complex movements in a simplified manner. He applies his knowledge of human anatomy and biomechanics to the development of safe and effective CrossFit programming that is as fun as it is challenging.
Amy Hollingsworth

Amy’s early athletic endeavors began with gymnastics and diving before turning to endurance events in college. She started running marathons and moved into triathlons shortly thereafter. She has completed 7 half-marathons, 4 marathons, 1 50K ultramarathon, 2 Half-Ironman triathlons and 20+ Olympic/sprint distance triathlons/duathlons. She took an almost 3 year break from serious training after the birth of her daughter in 2005 before discovering CrossFit in late 2007.
Amy has worked in the healthcare industry for 11 years as a Speech Pathologist treating adults with voice and swallowing disorders. She has helped hundreds of patients regain the ability to eat and drink following neurologic injuries and head & neck cancer. She has also witnessed the devastating effects of poor dietary habits and its role in declining cardiovascular health, rise in type II diabetes and skyrocketing healthcare costs. She developed an interest in nutrition as a means of disease prevention and treatment to improve patients’ quality of life.
Amy’s coaching style is formed by her experience as an athlete in combination with her ability to develop a personal connection with people. She is a strong proponent of leading people outside of their comfort zones in a safe and supportive environment in order to achieve extraordinary results.
