“My First Throwdown” Recap
Wow, what an amazing day Saturday was. First and foremost we want to thank everybody that participated in the event. The effort put forth by each and every one of you was nothing short of awe inspiring. More on that in a moment. We also want to put out a huge thank you to all of the folks who volunteered to make this throwdown the success it was. Nearly every one of our Competitors Class members volunteered as judges and this thing would not have gone down if it wasn’t for their efforts. Thank you, thank you, thank you. We also need to thank two local business who graciously donated prizes: The Oak Table in Kingston donated gift certificates that were given out as 2nd place prizes and Poulsbo Running donated a new pair of New Balance running shoes to the winners and Slipper Pig Brewery who donated post-Throwdown refreshments. Thank you for your generosity.
One other HUGEMONGOUS thank you to everybody who bought items and donated money to the Survive & Thrive Paleo Bites Sale. We raised $383 for this awesome organization!
Without further ado, here are the top 10 finishers from “My First Throwdown”:

2. Cody B. 2. Kavita C.
3. Jeff C. 3. Corri O.

There were amazing performances on all sides at all levels of the leaderboard. Some notables were when the youngest competitor in the event, Gatlin (14) and the oldest competitor, Hal (68) both PR’d their clean & jerks by 20lbs. Corri O (aka Corri Girl) really established herself on the leaderboard by winning the Clean & Jerk Ladder. Many competitors blew away my expectations by completing all the reps in the “Racing to the Rope” chipper in blazing time leaving nearly 5 minutes to rack up double unders with the men’s winner, Nick, getting over 200 double unders. In the final event, “Whip It Up”, the women’s first heat came down to a near photo finish between Jana and Billie.
All in all, the day was easily one of the most enjoyable and exciting days in all of my years of CrossFit involvement. Thank you all for making what we do so worthwhile. Here are just a few of the comments we saw buzzing around Facebook after the event:
“Thank you everyone for participating, sponsoring, coaching & supporting us all today! I really had a great time and was so proud of how we all did. Great job KCF! This should be a reoccurring event.”
“Thanks KCF for a great day of competition. Thanks also judges for volunteering your time. Matt and I had a blast. Hope we can do more of these in the future!!”
“When I started at Kitsap CrossFit 5ish months ago I never thought I could or would do anything like I did today!! Thanks for all the cheers and support, I had a GREAT time!!!”
“I can’t even come up with words to describe today. I’m amazed at what I was able to accomplish, considering where I was when I started one year ago. I’ve worked hard, but if it weren’t for our amazing owners, coaches and FAMILY at KCF I never would have been able to get through today.
Thank you to Dan, Amy, Chris, Brandi, Mindi and all the judges and supporters that came out today. It was truly an amazing experience.”
What an amazing time at Kitsap CrossFit for “My First Throwdown”! Despite a bunch of nerves all 3 of our first-time competing athletes rocked their WODs! Also a big shout out to everyone who came to cheer them on and show some SCF love- Neil, Candace, Suzanne, Suzie, Cynthia, Matt, Erin & JP. Make sure you congratulate them and make sure that next time YOU are also a competitor. There were all ages (from 14 to 68)/sizes/ability levels proving that CrossFit is for EVERYONE!
Photos and an an entire results board will be posted sometime later today. Keep checking back here or on our Facebook page.
