Fit Kids = Smart Kids

A recent study presented at the American College of Sports Medicine’s annual meeting showed a definite link between physical fitness and academic achievement. In a nutshell, kids who performed better on fitness tests also performed better on standardized testing. This really isn’t an earth shattering discovery, it’s just another study that adds to the already growing arsenal of evidence showing the benefits of physical fitness for our youth.

Kitsap CrossFit is committed to contributing to the development of our future leaders. This last weekend we launched our Kitsap CrossFit Kids program, and it was a smash hit. Our current program is designed for children between the ages of 4-12. The program’s goal is to teach kids basic movements that are important in nearly everything we do, whether it is in sports or in daily life. The emphasis is on keeping it fun for all parties with engaging workouts and multifaceted games.  So far the feedback from the kids and parents is overwhelmingly positive. We are very excited for the future of this program.

  • Summer – If only I could take my own advise :(

  • Did Jackie today in 12:04. I shaved 2 min off my January time and moved from the blue band to the new red band. Pretty happy with that, but Scott said I would have done even better if I stop taking so many breaks that I really don’t need! :)

So, I am here to say…My name is Summer and I am a breakaholic. The first step is admitting it, right?

  • Disappointed in my performance tonight :( Felt fresh, no injury, also thinking I would shave some time………………almost 2min slower than Jackie Finals!!! I did however beat my January time by 5sec. I guess thats something.

Oh well, tomorrow is a new day and I will crush whatever is comming up!!

(that was me talking myself up)

GREAT Friends and excercise, can’t really go wrong!

    See ya all tomorrow

  • Oh Jackie-O, you killed me tonight, the row absolutely gassed me and I could not get my breath back….disappointed because I went into it thinking I could definitely shave a few minutes off my January time…ended up 14 seconds slower. HOWEVER, last time I did the pull-ups on the blue band and this time I did 11 RX and finished on the new red “brazilian” band. Eeeek!!! But was thrilled I could do the thrusters after months of having shoulder issues – worked out ok in the end.
