The Experiment of You

I firmly believe that life is a collection of experiments. We are continuously trying new things and then examining their effect on all aspects of our life. Fitness and nutrtion fit right in with this theme. When I first approached CrossFit it was quite a departure from my previous fitness experiences and frankly from my fitness beliefs. I approached it with an open mind however, and viewed it as an opportunity to try something new and then examine the results. Well, I think it goes without saying that I view the results of the experiment as a resounding success.

Many of us are now 1 month in on a nutrition experiment, the Paleo Diet. From the buzz I am hearing around the box, this experiment is also a resounding success. I know that many of you are planning to stick with the nutrition plan and make it a lifestyle, not just an experiment.

Do you know people who are unwilling to experiment with their lives?  People who get caught in ruts and even though they’re not satisfied with their rut, they are too afraid to shake things up?  Often times these people will comment how great someone looks or how well they are performing in a certain activity and when they are told how that person achieved these results they state something like “Oh, that probably wouldn’t work for me.”  Or “I’m probably not ready for something like that.”  I encourage you all to try new things, shake things up.  You always have the option of going back to your old ways if the experiment isn’t successful.  You’ve got nothing to lose and potentially everything to gain.

  • Nice work tonight. Need I remind you prognosticators that we are officially in “Jackie” training mode. Having said that, “Fran” is ALWAYS in your future :)

  • I couldn’t agree more! The only way you will ever grow as a person is to try new things. It really is amazing how many people are afraid to make a change. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing but expecting a different result, right? Life can be so much better!!
