Kitsap CrossFit Athlete Spotlight – Angela
As I’m sure you all know my name is Angela Christine Engle. I was born on July 28, 1986, that makes me a whopping 23 years of age. I’m not working as of now but I will keep you all posted on what I end up doing. My first experience with Crossfit was November 9, 2009 at 7:00pm. Alan my husband started working out at Kitsap Crossfit a few weeks before I finally caved, and got the mental strength to get my butt going. I had always been really intimidated with crossfit, I didn’t think I had what it took. My first WOD was in my fundamentals class. To be honest the only thing that I can remember was that there was ALOT of squats, Oh and I could barely move let alone walk after it. Dan told me to come back no matter how sore I was because I would feel better after working out. He was right!
Before crossfit I wasn’t what you would call a super active person. I ran here and there and dabbled in a little olympic lifting but nothing to write home about. My favorite crossfit exercise would have to be the Deadlift and close behind that would be the Jump Rope. My Least favorite would be the Snatch and close behind that would be push-ups, burpees and pull-ups. I wouldn’t say that I don’t like these, but they are the most challenging for me.
I love Kitsap Crossfit for many reason but I think the biggest one is the people and the coaches. This might be the most supportive encouraging and motivated group of people that i have ever come across. The community is amazing! If I’m having a rough day I go to crossfit no matter what because i know when i leave I will feel a hundred times better then I did when I walked in. I think I will always have a big place in my heart for Kitsap Crossfit because it is and will always be my first box. Dan and Amy’s programing and coaching style is the BEST. I have seen huge results in my strength, body comp and so much more!
I feel I have come a long way since my first WOD there is so much that I feel I have improved on, Its hard to pin point one thing. One goal that I just got was my first Kipping pull-up. That was a huge thing for me because I have always had a mind set that I would never be able to do a Kipping Pull-up, well I did and it felt amazing. It didn’t just come though I worked on it and worked on it until it just happened one day before we started the WOD. Don’t get me wrong there are those days where you feel like you are just sucking it up and you just want to cry but the thing is you just have to keep on going and push through it and you WILL see results.
My short term goal would be doing 10 strict push-ups in a row. Long term goal, mmmm that’s a hard one for me because there is so much i want to improve on. I would say, I want to become an all around great crossfitter and make sure that I keep my short term goals tough so i can keep improving in all the crossfit principals.
I enjoy reading romance books in all that free time I have haha. When I do have a free moment and the weather permits I love being outside as much as i can be, camping hiking running.
My favorite type of food would be Thai, Italian and then Mexican. Junk food would definitely have to be chocolate peanut butter ice cream! (I know its not Paleo at all) I also like vanilla with HOT fudge..
Something none of you know about me is that I went to State three years in a row for singing. I placed 2nd in mezzo soprano soloist and 1st place with the octet that I sang with in high school. I don’t sing too much anymore but I need to get back into it sometime. I love to sing and love to perform.. My mom said its a shame that you don’t use the gifts you were given. I tell her that I’m just trying a different road. The active road! Crossfit!
(**Coaches Note: Before Angela started at KCF, her husband, Alan said that she was very intimidated by CrossFit. I was a little concerned about this, but from her first night at Fundamentals I knew there weren’t going to be any problems with Angela. She came in that night and put everything she had into that first WOD. Angela is all about intensity and pours her heart and soul into the WODs and she has reaped huge benefits because of it. She is the true embodiment of a hardass CrossFitter. We are honored to have had a part in her development as an athlete and we are very sad that she will be leaving us very soon. The only consolation is that she is Poulsbo born and bred and we know that we’ll be seeing her again in the future. Angela, thank you for joining our community, you have made huge contributions to our clan and you will be missed.)

This was one amazing WOD! Holy cow I’m already feeling just a little of what I’m going to be feeling tomorrow morning! I think my ass my quads my core are all swollen.. Shoulder is a little tight and I think i tweaked it but I’m going to ice before i hit the sack and take an 800MG Ibp.
Thanks to everyone for the great comments you all mean soooo much to me.. You all drive me to push harder and to be a better crossfitter and thank you all for that. You all rock and you all will forever be superstars in my eyes! Cant wait for the party tomorrow! It should be a good one for sure! Muah!
Dan, I’m glad I didn’t do this one with you, because you did it in almost half the time it took me! As Rx’d 20:07. My core is shot from this one and Annie.
Ang!
You are a brick house to me! Thank you for sharing your story with us. Now I am waiting to hear you sing your way through our remaining WOD’s! I absolutely love working out with you!
Hope to see you tonight. Can’t miss this one.
Just finished this “Great” little WOD over my lunch break (hallelujah for cancellations!), got her done in 11:50 Rx’d. Would have been nice to have someone to race though.
Hoping to see a big crew tonight at 5pm…it’s beautiful out…great day for lunges and push-ups.
Angela, where do I begin? Your determination is contagious. I love working out with you because when I’m giving 100%, I look over at you and you’re giving 110%. I think, “if Angela can push through it like that, so can I”. So thank you for helping me to rise to your level. I can’t even imagine what the box will be like after you and Alan take off but I find comfort in thinking about what the box in Hawaii has coming… Holy shit, they have no idea what they are getting. Everyone there will be better because of you – they have to, you’re contagious. You’re one hardcore lady. Love ya.
you inspire me
Angela – You are a true rockstar! I second what Chris said about you…I LOVE your intensity, and you are such an inspiration to us all! You guys will be truly missed:(
Dan – I hope you are ready to do some manipulations on my back again after this f***ing WOD!
I have 2 things to say about Angela.
1. I wish I had the drive and determination you do during our wod’s. It’s inspirational watching you finish a workout.
2. When your ability/technique/strength catches up with your drive and determination, make sure everyone gets the F out of your way.
There will be a void at the box when you, Alan, and McKenna leave for Hawaii. I enjoyed our short time together sharing blood, sweat, and tears and hope our paths will cross again. You will all be missed.
x
Lol- Omg, I think our experiences mirror each other! You’ve come a long way in crossfit, and by reading your post, I know that you have the character keep persevering…
WTG Angela!!
