Eugene or Burst – 90 days and counting

I know, it’s supposed to be “…or bust”, but every time I hear this phrase I’m reminded of that very cheesy 80′s sitcom Perfect Strangers (watch the video, you’ll see what I’m talking about). It may have been a cheesy show, but I watched it pretty religiously. Something about Balki Bartokomous that cracked me up. Anyhoo, back to the theme of this post – the Eugene Marathon is now 90 days away (that’s 13 weeks).  I know that I have been slacking a little in my endurance training.  If you’re like me, it is now time to get serious.  Our regular CrossFit training will take us a long way, and for some may be enough to go out and finish a marathon, it’s been done before.  However, if you harbor designs on finishing strong or maybe even setting a PR, you are going to have to do some dedicated endurance training on top of the Kitsap CrossFit WODs.  Again, for those of you (including me) who have yet to start training in earnest here’s your call to arms.

In the coming weeks I will be posting more information specific to our quest toward Eugene. Topics will include:
Pre-race Nutrition
Race-day Nutrition
Post-race Nutrition
Race pacing strategies
Race day intangibles (the things you may have never though of)
Race day motivational strategies

If there is something else that you are interested in or wondering about let me know. I am sure I can come up with something for you. Also, if you are not currently on the Eugene Marathon Training Plan email list, but you would like to be, let me know and I’ll add you to the list and fire off the training plan to you. Happy running, and don’t forget, post your endurance results to comments.
