WOD:
Rest Day
R ‘n R (Resting and Reading):
Here’s a smattering of links to sites that we like. I don’t necessarily check each site daily, but try to hit them up once in a while. Lots of great stuff out there on the ether. Of course there is a lot of crap out there also…for example
Here’s the good stuff:
Son of Grok - This guy really took Mark Sisson’s (Mark’s Daily Apple) to heart and totally changed his life around. Read his story on “About SOG” and then check out his recipe tab. There are some very clever looking paleo recipes there
Crockpot 365 - This lady cooked every meal, 3 meals a day for 365 days straight using only a crockpot. You would not believe some of the things she made in a crockpot. Of course there are some of the typical stews and roasts, but how about smoked brisket, brownies, pancakes or cedar plank salmon. Granted, not all of the recipes are on the recommended list for good health, but there are plenty that qualify.
Melissa Byers (Urban Gets Diesel) – This is a fantastic blog created by a CrossFit affiliate owner and Robb Wolf devotee. Robb is the recognized nutrition Guru of CrossFit. Melissa has a knack for relaying quality info in a very sharp and clever manner. She tells it like it is, but doesn’t make you feel like a dipsh!t. Start with Change Your Life in 30 Days, then scroll down and read The Byers Guides to Eating Dirty (I and II) and then Healthy/F-Off is a must read.
Happy reading, and if you see any recipes you like, feel free to try them out on the community at the Kitsap CrossFit Holiday Party, December 19th.

Yeah Alan and I are going to start now with at least a full meal a day thats paleo! I’m pretty excited
Count the Exarhos clan in for a Paleo challenge! We made the almond chicken recipe found on http://www.performancemenu.com/recipes/index.php for dinner tonight. It was yummy!!!
Yeah, I’m a big fan of Ms. Byers. She has a razor sharp wit and that H/FO scale is sheer brilliance.
When I did my month of strict paleo the hardest thing for me was corn chips. We were living in San Diego and there were just too many good Mexican restaurants all serving up endless baskets of chips and salsa. We should definitely kick off 2010 with a Paleo/Zone challenge. Nothing like starting off the year with a good nutrition kick!
Angela and I were talking about going paleo today and about the sacrifices that come with it. We talked about the 80/20 rule and stuff we would still eat, but after reading about the H/FO scale going paleo mostly seems a lot more realistic. Because we both really like vodka and coffee and on occation like to sweeten up both those drinks.
Agreed! Love it!
The healthy/f-off scale is brilliant….brilliant I say!!
