Activity versus Exercise

Have you ever heard someone say that they “got a lot of exercise” because they walked around a mall for a few hours or because did a bunch of housework? While I think it is commendable to keep active in many different ways, I would argue that the above actions are not exercise, but instead – activities. You need both in your life. You need to do things that keep your body moving, and it just so happens that a lot of that occurs while you are running errands, doing housework/yardwork or playing with your kids. But they should not be confused or substituted for actual exercise. This article highlights a common misconception that people have when they are active during the day. It highlights moms who feel because they are chasing their kids, that this counts as exercise. We all know it is hard to squeeze in all of the things we need to do in one day, and often exercise gets shoved to the curb. The biggest impact that CrossFit had on me was it finally offered something I couldn’t pass up, something I craved and something worthy of prioritization. Some one needs to tell the moms in this article about CrossFit!!!

First time doing squat cleans and it was a killer! I think I finished in around 11 min using 53 lbs. We need to do that one again!
I think my time was 8:55 with 115# cleans. Started off at 135#, but could tell after 5 reps that it wasn’t happening. Tough WOD, squat cleans always mess me up.
